What is Lean ?

LEAN is a philosophy that improves the bottom line result by reducing the lead time, avoiding overproduction, over administration and creating flow in and across the company’s processes.

It shortens the time between a request for a product or service by eliminating wasteful work and processes. It helps the business doing less to process more by working smarter.

The core idea is to maximize customer value while minimizing waste. Simply, lean means creating more value for customers with fewer resources.

It is done by:

  •  Only focus on the customer's requirements

  •  Understand the purpose of every process

  •  Continuous improvement

  •  Work flowing at the rate of the customer demand

LEAN – a different way of thinking

Instinctively we will invest in improving the process that is “value added” to the product.  => Based on design changes

With LEAN thinking we will invest in eliminating “non-value added” process (the waste) that the customer doesn’t want to pay for. =>Based on culture changes
